I was posting on a commentary platform called Yabberz. It is non-partisan and full of people from both sides. It is a bit like trying to find a gumball on a playground at times though. There are liberals and cons and some decent reporting and writing going on, but mostly just posting links to certain articles.
Now I certainly am on the left hand side of things these days and for most of my adult life, but I will vote for the candidate. On this commenting site though there is a glaring process going on and they would do well to nip it in the bud before they can grow any more. The process is lying, downright lies, blatant and directed. There is a whole system in place bent on disinformation and lies. The right predominantly uses it but there are some from both sides.
It is not like they do not know they are lying, they have to be genuinely mad to think that some of this is the actual truth. It has been repeated so many times though they feel comfortable with the thought that it could be. They then run these stories straight from parody to the masses with just enough gullible folk behind them to make it take on even more reality. They comment on the financial crisis, without knowing how our economy works. They comment on Gay Rights, when they have never known a gay person in their life because of isolationism and religion. They comment on Mexicans coming across the border yet say they themselves are too good for that kind of work.
I find it tragically funny that the very things that the right is up in arms about these days are mostly things they have made worse through their own legislation. For the most part the commentators I see on the right do not understand the very government they vilify. Their understanding of it comes from a Schoolhouse Rock snippet on TV when they were five. They do not seem to have the wherewithal to see that and yet toss lies to the bloodthirsty like minded ilk and hope they feel the love for their hate.
I have seen it from the left as well during the last administration, people are human and do human things. This round of attacks on not only the party of the left but seemingly the country of the left is beyond the pale though. The state of panic and fear in many of the posts bringing up the dark actions of the past that taught us painful and death filled lessons. They are being contemplated again thanks to our historical amnesia.
It is in our elections that we are supposed to put forward our best. If this is our best by any means we are in serious trouble. There is a word that keeps popping up though that is not what it seems anymore, that word is united. Maybe from now on the world can call us the co-joined and disparate states of America. There is no doubt in my mind that the right is trying to stop all progress through hate and fear, lies and covering of their own butts. There is not a GOP party in this country any longer, simply varying degrees of spite. Why should we listen to anything that comes out of their mouths, it has been proven to be mostly lies and more lies. I honestly believe they are not campaigning for their country or party, but for the ability to control the people, and their God given right to intolerance.
